The simple things...........
I got an actual card in the mail today! A friend from camp who lives in Maryland, sent me a nice card and actually handwrote inside it. She just wrote to say hi, how is life after camp etc. I love that she did that. It is so much nicer than e-mail or a text message.
It kinda made my day.
To me, it means someone thought enough to actually find a card, and then find a pen, and then find some things to say to me.
I miss stuff like that. Alot of things are getting lost along the way of our new found modern world. Noone writes letters, noone picks flowers and leaves them on the neighbors porch, and I don't know anyone who still makes soap.
I don't much care for the way we do things anymore. I miss the simple things.
A walk to Dairy Queen to eat ice cream on the red tables can make my day. These are the things memories are made of. I don't think anyone will ever look back and say, "oh, I remember that lovely text message my Grandma sent me"
We have to participate in life, not just report it.

The grandma text message thing is hillarious. Getting hand-written mail just doesn't happen anymore. It's like our fingers might break or something. And stamps? Aren't those only for bills?
By the way, I've been meaning to tell you how much I value our friendship, how profound it is that I can read your blog and comment on it... blog/comment, blog/comment, blog/comment. It really is a very special relationship.

Ok, I get the irony of my rant in my "blog".
I am coming over Thursday and we are going to make soap with the children.

Who was ever making soap. When did that last happen 1845. And how about the kids I thought they were going to experience the joys of soap making. Now they need baths and we are going to have to buy soap, what an outrage.
